The Official NYS Driver’s Manual explains the many kinds of driver licenses available.

You can also find general information on driver licenses, as well as sections on renewing licenses and the point system. For information on obtaining a Commercial Driver License, please refer to the DMV Website.

There is also the License Event Notification Service (LENS’) which “can give you important information about the driver records of your employees or volunteers. After you provide the DMV with information about your drivers, LENS automatically notifies you of driver license events that occur”. This service does come with a fee, however.

You can reduce your violation points through the Point and Insurance Reduction Program. This brochure is a helpful resource on reducing points. The NYSDOT has a list of course providers.
